Do You Need New Vinyl Siding?

Vinyl Siding is an excellent product to protect your home from the damaging forces of mother nature and it also provides your home with a great look. Vinyl siding tends to work really well up here in New York because of our relatively moderate climate, we do get a decent amount of cold weather but vinyl siding does fine in cold weather, the heat and constant beating of the sun in the more southern states can cause vinyl siding to melt, warp, or just lose its coloring prematurely. More expensive vinyl siding products are built slightly thicker and they’re also built to resist the suns harmful rays a bit more but generally we don’t have many issues with vinyl siding when properly installed.

Our company is one of the premiere installers of vinyl siding in the Syracuse, NY area. Vinyl siding is far from being a complex product to install. We offer a flat rate installation price for our customers but since each piece of siding has to be cut and fit individually, houses with more complex layouts can end up costing more than houses that are more basic. One of the largest costs when upgrading your vinyl siding is the labor to install the product. We like to use a smaller crew of 2-3 experienced installers. This allows us our guys to move efficiently throughout the process without running into many bottle necks, you may see other companies that use much larger crews but we have found, at least for us, that a crew of 2-3 can complete a siding job in a fair amount of time with a better attention to detail and less wasted cost on labor which allows us to save our customers money by keeping our labor costs lower.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Can you install siding in the winter? Siding can indeed be installed during the winter but the vinyl siding product tends to become brittle and can be more difficult to cut and because the vinyl siding is designed to move and shift with the changing temperatures; even the most experienced installers can end up with bubbles in the siding when spring rolls around and heats up the siding. We can only allow for so much movement and it’s impossible to calculate how much the home itself will shift during the seasons. When bubbles do occur, it’s a very quick fix. We simple cut the effected piece of siding slightly shorter to allow it lie flat.
  • How much does siding usually cost? The vinyl siding prices generally start at $450/square for a basic house and can be as much as $800/square for a very “cut up” installation. Most of our installs are around $550/square though. If you’re familiar with the area, the split level homes in Clay / Liverpool / and Cicero tend to be around $500-$550/square.
  • How long does the installation take? This one varies a lot, a lot of angular cuts and small detail pieces can double the time it takes to complete the job but we do take about 5 working days on average.
  • How far are you scheduled? Our schedule, like most of the other good contractors in our area fill up very fast. It’s important to reach out as soon as you know you’d like to move forward and have us give you an estimate. We require a deposit before we schedule the work.
  • Do you use subcontractors? We do not tend to use subcontractors on siding jobs but we do use sub-contractors on other projects. We warranty all work completed by any sub-contractors and whether we are using our in-house employee’s or sub-contractors; your price won’t change. We have a great relationship with our subs and we only work with subs when they can meet our specified budget.
  • How does the estimate work? We are very busy and we don’t say that to make you feel any less important to us but we only want to come out and visit the properties of customers who are ready to move forward with their project. So with this in mind we have a great estimate and consultation process that we go over via email and phone calls. When we receive a soft commitment from our customers we will send out a sales rep to verify our approximate measurements and provide you with samples. We use online estimating software that allows us to provide you with a pretty close ballpark cost without actually having to take up your time.
