PRESSURE TREATED DECKS
Holy cow! This page is almost entirely about composite decks. I just wanted to make sure we provided as much information about them as possible. Regular cedar and pressure treated decks have been around forever, of course we offer all kinds of decks though. Pressure treated decks are our biggest seller! Here are some advantages that pressure treated decking has over a composite material.
COST – Your upfront costs with treated lumber will indeed be lower than if you were to go with a composite decking. This is all material costs, the installation process is exactly the same, except with a composite material, if you cut a finished end, it must be sealed.
Strength – Treated lumber is strong and it’s inexpensive to replace & easy to refinish. Cedar is generally a more soft material and a composite deck can cause you to be a little too cautious around. Those deck boards are pretty expensive and if you drop something on them, you can damage the finish.
Appearance – Pressure treated decks can be refinished over and over, they can be sanded, stained, & painted every year for their lifespan. Composite decks can not be stained, re-finished, or sanded. They can sometimes be painted but even with pressure treated, painting a high traffic area like a deck doesn’t usually result in a long lasting finish.
